4/8/12 Varsity @ Orchard Lake St. Marys
Last night the Lakeland baseball team dropped their season opener to Orchard Lake St. Mary's 9-6. Andrew Lavarenz took the loss. Lakeland fell behind early 6-0 after two innings on a few key errors. Ryan Kraft threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief sitting down all eight hitters he faced; to keep the Eagles within striking distance. Dylan Jespersen got Lakeland on the board with a two out RBI single in the 4th, plating Ross Heiman. John Rakowicz was the lone Eagle with two hits. Jack Flynn drove in two runs with a double in the seventh.
Lakeland will open KLAA play tomorrow at Brighton, then will be home at Eagle Park to play Rochester Adams on Thursday at 4:30, and Saturday against Ypsilanti at 11:00 for a doubleheader.

5/21/12 V vs Pinckney, Northville, Novi
Last night the baseball team won the first game of the Association cross-over tournament defeating Pinckney 11-3. The Eagles got yet another strong outing from Ross Heiman, yielding zero earned runs, two hits, striking out six. Josh Martin threw a scoreless seventh. Offensively Lakeland was paced by Bobby Schumacher, Chris Petkwitz and Mikail Sizen each with three hits. Lakeland will host South Lyon on Wednesday.

In the victory against Hartland, the Eagles offense was clicking. They were led by Noaln Johnson, Terry Haren, and Colby McCrum. John Rocker had a huge triple scoring two and Paul Stolar scored two runs in the game. Terry Haren and Nolan Johnson pitched very well only allowing two runs collectively.

Northville 11 Lakeland 1
The Eagles ran into a hot Northville team last week. The Mustangs had 16 hits in game one. Dylan Jespersen went one for two and was batted in by Terry Haren in the 4th inning.

Yesterday the Lakeland Baseball Team defeated Milford 8-1. Sophomore Ross Heiman threw six innings allowing one run while striking out six and scattering four hits. Sophomore Josh Martin pitched the ninth to preserve the victory. Offensively the Eagles were sparked by a key two out single by Chris Petkwitz in the first inning racing out to a 2-0 lead. Junior cathcer Devin Houle went 2-2. Lakeland will travel to Northville to play the top ranked team in the state in the annual Armed Forces Game this Saturday.

The Eagles lost game one to their rivals despite a well played game offensively and defensively. The Eagles offense was led by Adam Szymanski who went two for four and Colby McCrum who went 1 for three. Ryan Kraft pitched three solid innings for the Eagles.

The Eagles traveled all the way Down River to play Trenton High School. The Eagles were led by Terry Haren, who pitched a complete game, striking out 5. The Eagle's offense was led by Paul Stolar, who went 2 for 4 and with a walk and Jon Rocker, who had a RBI double.

5/10/12 Varsity @ Mott, Kettering
Yesterday Lakeland traveled to Waterford Mott and took on the city of Waterford. In game one Lakeland lost a tough one 4-1. Josh Martin pitched a complete game. Andrew Lavarenz was the offensive spark banging out two hits and scoring the lone Eagle run. Mikail Sizen and Zac Wright each reached base twice. In game two Andrew Lavarenz carried a no hitter into the before giving up the only hit with two outs, as the Eagles held onto a 1-0 win over Waterford Kettering. Lavarenz struck out three and walked two in route to his complete game shut out. Offensively Lavarenz carried the load once again reaching base three times and driving in the one Lakeland run (Kevin Lechner). Cole McGinn reached base twice. Lakeland played solid defense behind Martin and Lavarenz not commiting a single error all day. Kevin Lechner had 7 assists at third base and Zac Wright had 11 in the doubleheader.
Lakeland is back at home tomorrow to host the Ron Kowalski Memorial. The Eagles will play West Bloomfield in the first game at 10:00 and Woodhaven at 2:00. The winner of the Lakeland site will play the winner of WLC, Farmington, and Trenton being held at WLC.
Also next weekend Lakeland will play its annual Armed Forces Game at Northvilel HS. The players will be collecting used items to donate, things like DVD's, cell phones, candy, etc... Please see the attachment for more info.

Nolan Johnson went 3-4 at the plate and he pitched the last two innings to close out the game. Nate Lonergan went 2 or 4 with an RBI. The second game of the double header was not played due to the length of game one.

Yesterday the Eagles lost a tough one to Howell 4-2. Lakeland carried the lead into the sixth inning but could not hold on. Kenny Miller threw a complete game yielding no earned runs, finishing with six strike-outs and scattering five hits. Cole McGinn paced the offense with two hits. Lakeland will take to the diamond again on Wednesday to face Waterford Kettering in a doubleheader.
5/4/12 JR Varsity vs W.L. Western

A few too many defensive mistakes by the Eagles allowed Walled Lake Western to score 10 runs in game one. The Eagles attack was led by Blake Edwards who went 3 for 3, and Terry Haren who went 2 for 4.

The Eagles were led by starting pitcher, Nolan Johnson, who threw a complete game, but they could not score enough runs to give Nolan the victory. John Rocker was on base two times as was Blake Edwards.

5/4/12 Freshmen vs Milford
Last night the Lakeland Freshmen boys baseball team played against Milford. The first game was close with Milford winning 14-12. In the second game Lakeland lost 7-0.
5/1/12 Varsity vs Grand Blanc
Last night the varsity team lost to Grand Blanc 8-1. Grand Blanc scored five times in the second inning without a hit to break open the game. Offensively Devin Houle drove in the lone Eagle run with his first varsity hit. Lakeland will travel to Walled Lake Western today for a divison doubleheader.
5/1/12 JR Varsity @ Grand Blanc
The Eagles lost to Grand Blanc 4-0. Dylan Jespersen pitched very well and efficiently, yet the Eagles offense could not push any runs across the plate. Adam Szymanski went one for one in the lose.
5/1/12 Freshmen vs Canton
The Freshmen hosted Plymouth Canton Tuesday night in a double header.The Lakeland boys put in a fine effort in first game. Only to lose 2-1 in the last inning. In the second game, in the 4th inning it was 7-6 and than Canton scored 7 runs to beat us 14-6.
4/28/12 Varsity vs North Farmington
On Saturday the Eagles split a doubleheader with North Farmington HS. Game one the Eagles couldn't get anything going and lost 10-0. In game two, Kevin Lechner threw a complete game shut-out striking out 3 leading the Eagles to a 4-0 win. Mikail Sizen and Ross Heiman each had two hits. Dylan Jespersen got his first varsity hit. Lakeland starts a busy league week today hosting Grand Blanc.

In game one, the Eagles were down 6 runs early, yet they manage to crawl back and defeat North Farmington 11-7. Ryan Kraft earned the win, striking out 4 and walking 0. Paul Stolar was on base 4 times and Nathan Lonergan went 3 for 5 with two RBI's.

4/28/12 Freshmen vs Novi vs Northern, vs Milford
Last weekend the Freshmen baseball team traveled to Milford and participated in the Milford baseball tournament. In the first game, Novi defeated Lakeland 6-3. In the second game, we played Walled Lake Northern and lost 7-4. In the night cape, we played our arch rivals the Milford Mavericks and lost by 5-3.
4/26/12 Freshmen @ Howell
Last night the boys Lakeland Freshmen baseball team traveled to Howell and lost both games of a double header 12-2. The boys didn't give up. David Hope had a fine double in the second game and scored 2 runs.
4/25/12 Varsity vs Northern
Last night Lakeland split a divisional doubleheader with Walled Lake Northern, losing game one 4-3 and winning game two 7-6. Lakeland could not capitalize on a Ross Heiman's third quality start of the year in game one. Heiman threw a complete game striking out four, and scattering six hits. He also added and RBI at the plate. Andrew Laverenz paced the offense with two hits and a walk. Bobby Schumacher added a hit and an RBI.
In game two Josh Martin threw a complete game win, his second of the year, striking out 7 while allowing four earned runs. Laverenz once again contributed 2 hits. Cole McGinn had the big blow iwth a 2 RBI triple in the third to give the Eagles the lead for good. Jack Flynn added an RBI single.
Lakeland will host North Farmington Saturday before a busy week next facing off with Grand Blanc, Walled Lake Western, and Milford.

4/25/12 JR. Varsity @ Northern
In game one the Eagles got off to another slow start defensively which led to an early lead for the Knights. Ty Yakel pitched well for the Eagles throwing 4 and 2/3 innings with three strike-outs. Blake Edwards was responsible for 2 of the Eagles 3 runs and as he went 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI.
The Eagle's bats were silent in game 2 due to good pitching from the Knights. Eric Shubitowski earned his first two hits of the season as we went 2 for 3 at the plate. The Eagles play a double header at North Farmington this Saturday.

4/23/12 Varsity @ Pinckney
Lakeland rode the arm of Andrew Laverenz to their first KLAA win of the season, defeating Pinckney 6-0. Laverenz struck out four while tossing six scoreless innings and walking none. Josh Martin shut the door in the seventh striking out two of the three hitters he faced. Laverenz used a solid defensive performance behind him inducing groundball out after groundball out. Offensively the Eagles were paced by Bobby Schumacher, Mikail Sizen, Cole McGinn and Kevin Lechner each with two hits. Jack Flynn scored twice. Wes Beaumarchais picked up his first varsity hit. Lakeland will host rival WL Northern on Wednesday at Eagle Park. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 4:00.
4/23/12 JV vs Pinckney
The JV Baseball Team lost in a hard-fought battle yesterday to Pinckney, 8-3. The Eagles gave up 2 runs early and they could not claw back. Ryan Kraft pitched well, throwing 4 and 2/3 innings and striking out 5. Blake Edwards was on base three times, with two walks, a double and an RBI. The Eagles take on Walled Lake Northern on the road this Wednesday.
4/20/12 Varsity @ Waterford Mott
On Friday Mother Nature was Lakeland's worst enemy as the Eagles battled back to take the lead in the seventh on a Clint Risi two out double, 3-2. Only to have rain end the game early reverting back to the sixth inning when the Eagles were trailing 2-1. Thus the Eagles per MHSAA lose 2-1. Lakeland received another stellar pitching performance from Ross Heiman, yielding two runs over six innings of work. Lakeland will start a busy week Monday with a long journey to Pinckney.
4/18/12 Varsity vs Brighton
Yesterday Lakeland dropped it's Conference opener 7-2 to Brighton. The Bulldoogs jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Lakeland was led offensively by Clint Risi with two hits. Jack Flynn added a triple and run scored. Lakeland will travel to Waterford Mott on Friday for its first divisional game before taking the weekend off.
4/16/12 Varsity vs Brother Rice vs Ypsilanti and @ Fenton
The weekend was rough on the Eagles as they lost twice on Friday to Brother Rice (5-3) and (16-5). Saturday Lakeland dropped two more to Ypsilantu (14-13 and 6-5). Lakeland got back on track Monday with a 14-9 voctiry over Fenton. The scheduled twin bill was reduced to a single game because of the length of game one and weather. Josh Martin got his first varisty win throwing 5 1/3 inning. Ross Heiman relieved Martin in the 5th to get two strikeouts with Fenton threatneing in a 11-9 game to end the inning. Kenny Miller pitched a scoreless seventh to preserve the win.

Tonight the Eagles split their season opener at South Lyon HS, losing game one 9-8 and winning game two 2-1. In game one the Eagles battled back on three occasions cut the lead to one, but could not take the lead. Ross Heiman paced the offense in his first varsity start with three hits. Jack Flynn scored three runs while driving in two more. Josh Martin contributed two hits as well in his first varsity start. In the night cap the Eagles rode their horse, Cole McGinn, to a 2-1 complete game victory on the mound. McGinn gave up one run in the first inning, but that was it as he settled into a grove dominating the South Lyon hitters the remainder of the game. The Eagles scored twice in the top of the seventh to earn the win. Jack Flynn tied the game on a South Lyon miscue, and pinch runner David Deberry (for Josh Martin) scored on a Mikail Sizen bases loaded walk. McGinn slammed the door in the bottom of the seventh preserving the victory.
The Eagles take to the field again Friday (4/13) against Brother Rice here at Eagle Park. First pitch is slated for 4:00, Ross Heiman will get the start in game one, and Kenny Miller will take the ball in game two.
